How Long Does This Take?
This is My Healing Timeline so you have an idea for how long real transformation takes: longer than you expect, but more is possible than you think too. Sequence matters.
Age 0-21: The Setup
The first two years of my life may have been good, but when the war ended in Vietnam, my father was expected to bring over all of his siblings and step-mother, which was more than my mother could bear. The stress he had escaped to come to Canada was catching up with him and my parents split up right after my sister was born. Then life changed, we had nannies, my mother worked, and I felt unwanted. I continued to try to earn my father's love with grades, while he continued to show his love by buying us clothes and junk food, while also commenting that I was getting fat. At age three, I was turned away from school for not being toilet trained. At age six, I was sent home for defending my younger sister at school. I began to dissociate, and this got worse after my mother married someone who moved us away from our support system, so that it would be easier for him to abuse us. At fifteen I was able to have him removed from our life, but began to self harm when my mother went into a depression and said I was just like him, because the lack of support for me for what we went through made me mad. I had a near death experience, but it wasn't until I was hospitalized overnight for self harm, when I was 21, that I saw that I am better suited to helping mothers than I am to hurting myself.
Age 21-34: Trying Mainstream Methods
I did well at school, my first degree landed me many good jobs, but I didn't feel comfortable in a corporate setting. I didn't understand the point of trying to make other businesses more money, I wanted to do something more. After a break up, I lost a lot of weight and started to experience mania. I signed up for psychotherapy, starting taking medication, and I went back to school to earn two more degrees. I would have continued my education, had I not fallen into a major depression (the combination of prolonged social anxiety, repeated heartbreak, and a vaccine). I met my husband and decided to have kids (it was the only way out of my depression and back to my life path, as you can see).
Age 34-37 (first child): Discovering Alternatives (parenting, education)
Our eldest was born, my depression lifted, but I realized my son couldn't be parented the way my friends were parenting their kids. I took every parenting class available and I raised him with deep respect (because I thought I knew where my parents and teachers had failed me).
Age 37-41 (second child): Unique Psychology and Divine Healing (mental health)
After two rounds of IVF, and a very difficult pregnancy, our second child was born. I discovered Soul Contract, Divine Healing, and Human Design, and I was finally able to start coming off my psychiatric medication.
Age 41-43 (third child):RestoreChi (physical health)
Off my medication, we had a surprise pregnancy, our youngest was born. I discovered RestoreChi which was able to lift a lot of my physical symptoms and help my kids avoid surgery and trips to the doctor.
Age 43-47: Esogetic Medicine (parent-child health)
A teacher recognize my child's need for Esogetic Medicine, based on her destructive behaviour when I was in an online class. While treatment helped her, I needed more support to get over what I had done (IVF, not able to bond with her for my own protection, in a difficult pregnancy), so I trained in Esogetic Medicine so I could support both of us and other parents in similar situations.
Age 47-present: Kirlian Photography (relationship and into-the-world health)
After working with Kirlian photography for a few years, I decided to take the stuckness in my body seriously. The shift began as my relationship with my kids' school started to change, now she had a safe place to go, so I could continue to work on my business. Then healing expanded to me no longer being triggered by people who used to drive me crazy. I started to find joy in things that used to make me uptight. I still have conflict in my life, and negative emotions, but I work through them. I've even started to support my husband with his health, not doing it my way (because that didn't work for him) but seeing how doing it his way helps and adding whatever was missing.
Why This Matters
-
Accumulation is real. The first 37 years don't clear in 3 months. They take time to unwind.
-
Mainstream methods don't work for everyone, at least not long-term.
-
Alternative methods trickle in, it may take more than just one.
-
There are dependencies across different types of health, this is the order I needed in order for everything to start to improve.
-
Medication (or anything we use to hold us in place until we find something better) isn't failure. It's temporary and then we have to undo.
-
Transformation is possible. Even with depression, a bipolar diagnosis, anxiety, dissociation — real healing goes beyond symptom management, to actually hearing how we feel as guidance, knowing and accepting who we are and what we need.
-
It's worth it. The person I am now, is worth the 11+ years of healing it took to get here.
-
And, if you notice, the gains from healing got faster in the past couple of years. I don't know if this is because I have better tools on board now.
What This Means for You
-
You are not behind
-
You won't be fixed in 6 weeks
-
But major shifts are possible - Mainstream textbooks seem to suggest that you’re a lost cause if certain things happen to you, but many things can be released, and mainstream has yet to appreciate the benefit of having and healing difficult experiences.
-
The timeline depends on how much you're willing to see and invest in order to have a better life
-
Integration takes time. I can’t just give you the information and then everything changes, you need to try it out in your own life, see what works and what doesn't, see if it’s enough for you to experience lasting change, or if you need something more.
