Beyond the Fracture: Transforming Physical Breaks into Conscious Shifts
In my article that explored whether I qualify as a somatic practitioner (see: The Resonating Practitioner: Redefining Somatic Work Through Embodied Experience), I mentioned that I ended up with a chipped tooth partway through a weight-loss protocol, and then had a reaction to the solution my dentist put in place. I said I would explain why bones and teeth can break over the course of treatment. This is that article.
I want to say up front that this is not something I want to happen, to myself or to a client. But it can be hard to avoid. This article explains why and how we can learn from it and make use of it if it happens, rather than filing it under something we blame the treatment for or think is unrelated.
From an Esogetic perspective, bones and teeth are the densest tissue in the body, vaults frozen in time. When someone experiences something that is more than they can process, like a shock, a family burden, or a boundary that was crossed, the body can store it in this tissue, to keep it from overwhelming the person's brain and heart. It stays there until it can be released.
When treatment begins to loosen what has been held, whatever was blocking communication and healthy flow can give way. Like ice cracking as it thaws, a tooth or bone can break as the body lets go of tension it no longer needs and that was causing harm. Often it happens after a fall, which we call an accident.
Sometimes cracks and breaks happen outside of treatment, and they mean something too, but if the person doesn't have the support to understand what it means, it can be hard for them to benefit and let go until much later, when they go back to heal the fallout of that wound. In Esogetic Medicine, even being injured by accident has something to say.
One of my clients has lived both. She broke her left ankle right after the death of her grandmother, the only person she feels really wanted her in life. Losing someone she felt was her protector left a mark on her body. My client said she gained nothing from that experience, in comparison to how much she gained when she broke her right ankle (and chipped her front tooth) over the course of treatment with me.
After chipping her tooth, she found that people were a lot kinder to her, and after breaking her ankle she found that she needed to lean on others more and be ok with jobs being less well done. Rehabilitation from her injury has been empowering for her too.
Each major joint carries meaning, and so does each tooth. In my client's case, she chipped a kidney/bladder tooth. In my case, I chipped a stomach/spleen/pancreas tooth.
If we focus only on my case: I could feel a reaction in my stomach when the dentist worked to fix my chipped stomach/spleen/pancreas tooth. In Esogetics, the back molars share a circuit with the stomach, spleen, and pancreas, so what happens in the gut can show up in that tooth, and vice versa. That fits with what happened when I settled in to write about this: I had a loose bowel movement, which temporarily retriggered pain in my mouth.
Another piece of this puzzle is my overreaction to dairy. I have yet to deal with this, but a reaction to dairy could be a pancreas issue (the pancreas relates to issues with one's father in Esogetic Medicine). In Esogetics, as stress builds, the body becomes more acidic and can refuse to process dairy, causing excess phlegm or digestive pain. It's a lot, but the lesson is in there somewhere: When I work and worry too much this overtaxes my stomach/spleen/pancreas. I pay for not understanding and embracing my lesson not only with digestive issues, but also chipped teeth.
RestoreChi specialty tracks helped me recover from the dental work, but this isn't the solution for everyone: for some, specialty tracks are out of budget, and for others they can cost sleep.
I used to get cavities all the time. With RestoreChi toothpaste, that stopped on a dime. Then the breaks started to happen, and I tried to understand: was my mouth rejecting old fillings? But the dentist said it wasn't the fillings that were breaking, it was the teeth, and they blamed nighttime grinding, which could be true. This will lead into my next article, From the School Door to the Night Guard, about how force and suppression (like night guards, braces, retainers, or expecting a child to push through their reactions) can work against the body's natural release of emotional toxins and the boundary negotiations required for a healthy outcome.
What's most important is admitting that breaks can happen and that they have meaning. The body wants us to know something important about the way we are living and the changes we need to make if we don't want to endure more breaks (communication from the body to try another way of doing life).
From an Esogetic perspective, whether we are using RestoreChi or Esogetic Medicine, true healing releases old wounds. If these wounds are buried deep in our bones or teeth, they might break in the process. We need to stop thinking everything has to stay perfect and unbroken, because that kind of perfection leaves no room to heal. Think of kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer and gold, turning cracks into a celebrated feature rather than a flaw:

To be clear, I am not endorsing breaking yourself on purpose or celebrating this aspect of Esogetics or RestoreChi, but if a break happens, we can look into the meaning, so you have the opportunity to gain something from an unfortunate situation. Often, if it happens within Esogetic treatment, you will come to that realization yourself. Not so much with RestoreChi, which is why Esogetics is my primary go-to and RestoreChi is my support for in between.
Life has good and bad, pleasure and pain; all of this is to guide us to what is right for us, the aligned middle, where we can capture our lessons, learn, let go, move on, and evolve.
After I finished writing what you see above and got my client's approval to share her experience, the lesson I said "was in there somewhere" began to surface through my interpretation of this dream: Due to fraud, I was suddenly losing a lot of money. My husband helped me with the first $20,000 and then disappeared. I was stranded in a town that wasn't home while many secrets were uncovered.
As is common with Esogetics, dreams provide an opportunity for conflict resolution. This dream reminded me that the weight-loss protocol that triggered my chipped tooth included treating the thyroid, another organ that Esogetics ties to the father.
Issues that impact my body tend to show up with women more than with men, so I questioned whether this was really about my father. My Esogetic binders confirmed that authority issues belong to the "father figure", who can be male or female.
Dreams will speak to us using systems that we know, which is why another person should never interpret our dreams for us. Soul Contract is a system that I use as part of Unique Psychology, and it would understand the $20,000 in the dream to represent lesson 20, which is about outer war to inner peace. If we keep blaming the outside this creates more war, but when we cultivate inner peace (by clearing out old unresolved conflict and trauma using Esogetic Medicine), the peace we have on the inside extends into our outer experiences (ease of life, health, and relationships with others). Failure to do so, in the Soul Contract system, puts us at risk for cancer. I carry lesson 20 as a physical goal in my Soul Contract, meaning that I am motivated to work on this.
Lesson 20 is also associated with Saturn, an Earth element, and in Esogetics the breaking of bones and teeth is a Saturn/Earth theme too. I've always struggled with Saturn (the laying down of the rules we have to follow to participate in society), because it feels very masculine, yet Earth is a feminine principle.
In Esogetics, Earth is also associated with the delta brainwave, which shows in the left foot of a Kirlian photo and relates to the quality of our deep sleep and our ability to regenerate physically. Sleep is something I struggle with.
When lack of sleep shows in our right foot, Esogetics ties this to present-day stress, and when it shows in the left foot, Esogetics ties it to unresolved childhood stress. Left-foot issues affect the health of the body, while right-foot issues affect the health of the brain. Both of my feet have significant problems.
My chipped stomach/spleen/pancreas tooth is an invitation to look more deeply into what my pancreas needs in terms of support. Mainstream medicine will supplement with lactase for dairy intolerance and insulin for issues with blood sugar, but lactase only works in the gut, so it can't address my reaction to dairy (excess phlegm, sneezing, or throat-clearing).
Mainstream methods need to be evidence-based, but in Esogetics reactions can also be venting of emotional conflict that a person hasn't had the support to process yet. This is why this aspect of dairy sensitivity is hard to clear using mainstream and even many alternative methods that focus primarily on physical aspects. Most of us are unaware of the unresolved emotional conflict that we carry, so it is hard for research to account for statistically.
As a result, the emotional needs of the pancreas tend to go unnoticed until it is too late. A dairy reaction is not a sign of cancer, but when someone has been reacting to something for a long time and also carries a lot of ongoing conflict, especially from childhood, in Esogetics and Soul Contract, that combination is more of a red flag, one that may benefit from being looked into on a psycho-social-emotional level.
Why are we talking about the pancreas when dairy is affecting the head, throat, and intestines? Because, in Esogetics, when authority figures feel unsafe or rigid, the solar plexus contracts, and the conflict with authority that we feel we just have to swallow travels down into the stomach, spleen, and pancreas. The pancreas then struggles with its enzyme output, and we have digestive issues. When my body reacts to dairy with excess phlegm production in my head and throat it is saying "please look at what we no longer want to have to swallow, the pancreas is too filled up with bitterness that it can no longer produce the enzymes needed to digest this". Supporting the pancreas helps the belly brain finally relax and digest old authority conflicts, so we are more able to navigate present day demands (including but not limited to digesting dairy).
Esogetics ties the word pancreas to the capacity to let go and start over, giving everyone a clean slate. When we do this, we gain a self-regulating power to truly digest life, and to restore the deep delta brainwaves required for cellular repair, so we don't wake up groggy, tired, or in pain, because our childhood conflict has finally been integrated.
Nothing I share here is about fault. It's about identifying if we are indeed holding onto something that is putting our health at risk, and recognizing that Esogetic treatment can help us let it go.
My throat has flared up a few times over the course of treatment because it wanted this story to be heard. It's not really about being able to eat dairy. It's about recognizing that this reaction came from something mainstream and many alternative approaches weren't set up to reach, because it is psycho-social-emotional issues from childhood that still live inside me physically that need to be processed and cleared. In my experience, this is the domain of Esogetic Medicine.
