The Five (emotional) Poisons: What They Are, and Why Master Yan Addresses Them (with his specialty tracks)

In Traditional Chinese Medicine and Esogetic Medicine, physical illness has an emotional/mental/information component — a background layer that physical treatment (even removal) alone doesn't reach.

Master Yan (founder of RestoreChi) calls this layer the Five Poisons:

贪 (tān) — Greed Greed doesn't have to mean greed for money. It can mean wanting a child to follow a particular path, wanting attention or recognition, or trying to control an outcome that was never fully within one's control to begin with. 例句:对财富的贪求永难满足,只会带来无尽烦恼。 ("Greed for wealth can never be satisfied — it only brings endless trouble.")

嗔 (chēn) — Hatred This includes anger held toward others, and anger turned inward toward oneself. 例句:心中的嗔恨如同毒药,会慢慢摧毁内心的平静。 ("Hatred held in the heart is like a poison — it slowly destroys inner peace.")

痴 (chī) — Ignorance Not a lack of intelligence, but an unwillingness to see a situation clearly, even when the truth of it is available. 例句:破除痴愚,是心灵成长的第一步。 ("Overcoming this kind of ignorance is the first step in spiritual growth.")

慢 (màn) — Arrogance The blindness that keeps a person from seeing their own part in a pattern — including patterns that show up as illness. 例句:傲慢会蒙蔽人的双眼,让人看不到自身的不足。 ("Arrogance blinds a person to their own shortcomings.")

疑 (yí) — Doubt Not healthy skepticism, but the kind of doubt that blocks trust — trust that healing is possible, or that one deserves it. 例句:对真理的盲目怀疑,会阻碍修行的精进。 ("Blind doubt about the truth stands in the way of real progress.")

五毒 (wǔ dú) — The Five Poisons together 例句:贪嗔痴慢疑这五毒,是人类痛苦的根源。 ("Greed, hatred, ignorance, arrogance, and doubt — these five poisons are the root of human suffering.")

Why this matters for cancer, specifically

In his work with thousands of clients, Master Yan has observed a recurring pattern in breast cancer specifically: greed showing up as a yearning for love — trying to control a child's path, or carrying an ache for love or attention that wasn't received where it was expected to come from. This isn't a judgment on the person. It's an observation about where, over time, unprocessed longing tends to settle in the body.

If you just wanted the definition of the Five Poisons, you can stop here. If you want more — how this shows up in the Kirlian photo, what the track actually feels like to work with, and where I am in my own process with it — you're welcome to keep reading.

From an Esogetic (Kirlian) Perspective:

This is a match, because perceived lack of love in childhood shows up on the left little finger, and endless searching for love in the outside world shows up on the right little finger, and markers for issues with the breast show up on the bottom (which implies subconscious) of the little fingers. If the person also has issues showing up in their little toes (kidney fear) then we call this pattern the frame they came into or the pillars of life (moving between love and hate, my life program and my personality being too shut down to allow it).

What the 5 Poisons Specialty Track does (alone or when integrated into other tracks):

This 5 Poisons Specialty Track works to release the emotional structure behind whatever the person is struggling with. It used to be brought in after the Chill (and dampness) Release, just like the Heart Fire track (which Master Yan never used to let people use without him being present) was often used before Chill Release to help the body burn off the dampness that is released (and would otherwise cause pain) in the process. As of August 2026, Master Yan has integrated all of the these into one speaker, and then made a speaker for the physical (hardware) and non-physical (dantian).

Many people feel old emotions/thinking patterns/symptoms surface, followed by a sense that something heavy has lifted. Moving the speakers around (for me, moving 4.1+ (non-physical, what Master Yan calls software) to the heart and 5.0 (or if the person doesn't have 5.0, then 4.41, what Master Yan calls hardware because it has a physical representation in the organs) to the spleen and resting for a bit helped. And then staying away from the low back as the default position, but putting both speakers on liver or both speakers on spleen, sometimes also using the lower quadrant of the abdomen to help move out pain, helped.

There are practitioners who put it on the heart and feel congestion moving in their brain and say it's painful. I do not move into pain like this. If I get congestion in my head, I stop the speakers and move to fascia stretching work on my back that I know will help relieve the pressure in my head. I feel most of the congestion come up from the base of the back of my head, usually only on one side, and it can travel up and over and into my eye, if I let it, which I try not to. I can also get congestion in my sacroiliac joints, feet, or elbows, a break from the speakers also helps. Other practitioners will sometimes say "you need more time with the speakers" — and that may be true. But I have Esogetic Medicine (and the other things that I have integrated into my life) to fall back on, so I don't have to push through pain, I can listen to my body and add things to support the process instead. This is not the case for everyone, we are all doing the best we can to provide a solution for our clients, with the tools we and our clients have access to. Just because one thing alone can't do it all, doesn't mean it's contribution isn't a very valuable addition to the mix. I add what my clients are open to using, and work with what they have.

From an Esogetic Perspective, sleep is also very important

Left foot is delta (responsible for detoxing and healing the body), right foot is theta (responsible for detoxing and healing the brain). Dreams help us resolve conflict. Elbows can be greed, gallbladder, not knowing how to adapt or express your emotions, not knowing how to grieve or make space for yourself in the world. I can add more to this paragraph if there are specific symptoms you are curious about?

Our body is just talking to us, as best it can, about what it needs. There are no magical cures, it all goes back to the conversation with our body, to get us back on track, to where our body leaves us more alone in terms of bothersome symptoms, because we are operating in a way that doesn't hurt ourselves anymore. It takes a lot of time to protect instead of self-sacrifice, because of the culture we grow up in and the beliefs we have about what we need to "survive".

As I share in the August 2026 version of Master Yan's Current Approach (adapted for context):

"For me, RestoreChi is more of an extension of Esogetic Medicine, so it's hard to know which modality is responsible for what. But I seem to understand my symptoms and emotions more after using his latest specialty speakers.

My (perimenopause-related) split lip and uterine discomfort cleared right away. My sacroiliac pain is clearing since I stopped using the speakers. My allergies have reduced but are still present at times.

Underneath this, I realize how many things in life are like a tornado, and when things calm down, there is sadness, as my body adjusts to the shift in energy/information. The sadness is no longer something that I need to figure out or hold onto anymore. I didn't know whether to credit all of this (people who used to bother me, don't  anymore) to Esogetics, or some of it to the new specialty tracks, but knowing people who are only using the specialty tracks, I do think that the unique pacing of Esogetics is what makes everything better."

Most modalities are one size fits all, of course Master Yan puts in a lot of time to try to get clients to a place where they can accept the one size fits all. One size fits all is what makes helping others and not depleting oneself affordable. But, people are very unique in how they break, how they react, what additional support they need. This is a time and money commitment.

I am about to write a couple podcast episodes on "readiness" and "what if I am not local or travel" and this will certainly influence how I think about it.

As much as I want to help people who cannot be here for me to help them, there are drawbacks and limitations on how much I can do at a distance. This is literally why I am "offering my services as an adjunct to other practitioners", who do not have the ability to see client readiness, how they respond to treatment, or what is blocking progress, like I can do with Kirlian Photography. See: For Practitioners: When Clients Get Stuck and What “Stuck” Actually Looks Like — and Why Talking About It Isn’t Always Enough. It doesn't make sense to also say that in person is not needed. For those who are willing, I am sure there is a way to work it out.

Working on this together, figuring out what you need, what works for you, what doesn't, what you need to add to make other things work takes commitment, time, and money. That doesn't mean that less isn't help. I want to get you to a place where you are more self-sufficient, but I have to remember how much I invested to acquire and learn all of this and that my clients are coming to me for shortcuts to get them there, they don't need to know the full theory, for every person or have all the tools, just what works for them, to navigate health, life, and parenting with more than just mainstream (the tag line for my upcoming podcast Truth Evolves - on Spotify, Apple Podcast, YouTube, and Substack).
