Giving Birth to Pain — What Tracking Your Symptoms and Experiences Can Tell You

Updated: Apr 18

The window

The body does not keep talking forever. There's a window — and if it closes, the pain moves from the site of pain to the brain. The pattern can become harder to move when it's stuck in your brain, and when you move it. you may get more than you bargained for.

Esogetic Medicine reopens old closed conversations like Pandora's box. If you are going to do that, be ready for the body to start speaking again — because it will. Not every treatment will just to "make you feel better". Some will make you feel worse it order to teach you something important, that you cannot be taught in any other way.

This is like inner child work made physically real.

Why I woke at 1am

Two nights after the shoulder treatment I described in Fibromyalgia Doesn't Have to Be a Life Sentence, I woke at 1am with pain in my right arm. A different quality and a different location. The pain had moved. That movement was information.

I also had dryness in my left throat, pain in my left nostril, and pain in my left eye. I know what I did wrong, I had sat with my hips tilted, a strange habit I developed, likely related to my pelvic floor being tilted to the right, causing my sphenoid bone to pull right, causing pain on the left side of my head.

I also woke up because of poor dietary choice — two nights of eating out of alignment. And poor posture when watching my phone, caused my shoulder pain to return (at 6pm the previous day), because I was closing my body inward again. Watching TV is another was that I cope with being too tired to work and too tired to cook. The reaction was information. Not punishment or failure.

The ergonomic station lesson

After the shoulder treatment in Fibromyalgia Doesn't Have to Be a Life Sentence took my pain away, I decided that I would only do laptop work at the ergonomic stations that my husband set up for me in our home. I didn't realize watching my phone would create a similar issue. It's interesting that one of the ways that arnica addresses pain is to bring the soul more into the body, less dissociating, more being present to self care.

What the stress spasm program told me

When I applied the stress spasm brainwave program (a week prior) — designed to help move pain using the alpha brain wave (rest while awake) — the pain also shifted from my right arm into my left throat, sinus, and eye (twice). This is not random, especially given that two chiropractors and one massage therapist all said the tension is worse on my left, even though I feel the pain on my right, was I trying to protect my heart?

When pain moves it tells you what is connected. The arm, sinus, throat, eye, pelvic floor — these are not separate problems. They are one conversation happening across different organs and tissues, each speaking the language available — dryness and pain.

When my pelvic floor was adjusted, the pain in my left eye went away.

Giving birth

I had my children by induction. Induction was more painful than I had anticipated — I had my epidural turned up too high. My eldest sat engaged for too long. I had complete incontinence for two days afterward and I still experience leakage when I jump, run, sneeze, or cough.

The things we do when we are in pain — or to protect ourselves from feeling it again — can cause more damage than the original pain. Sometimes we do not know how to heal what we create when we are trying to protect ourselves.

The Esogetic karma numbers — what the location of pain tells you

In Esogetic Medicine, the body carries both personal karma (action we need to take to learn the lessons we came to learn in this lifetime) and accumulated ancestral material. The location of pain can sometimes tell you which layer is being addressed.

When pain runs down the side of the neck into the torso, it is tracking along the personal karma line. When pain runs from the middle of the shoulder down into the torso, it is tracking along the accumulated ancestral line. The accumulation number is calculated by adding the our personal karma numbers together and reducing to a single digit. We treat it only when treating the personal karma numbers causes the person to have a reaction.

My Esogetic karma numbers are 2 and 8. My accumulation number is 1. When pain showed on the accumulation line at level 3 and 7 (instead of level 1), I got the sense that I was getting caught up in something that wasn't mine or my ancestors to carry.

Realizing this and writing Why I Left The Developing Mind Off the Esogetic Medicine Reading List — and What It Has to Offer Beyond Laterality helped me make more of an effort, to let "the way my brain developed, as a result of my childhood trauma" go. By investing time to try some of the simpler laterality treatments. Which put me to sleep, and allowed me to finish this article, revealing that my tendency towards intellectualism (left laterality) isn't even mine or my ancestor's garbage to carry. I have very specific lessons to work on, to heal my children, and more, and I can't even get there, if I can't get over what is not mine.

For more on lessons 3 & 7 that were not mine, see: Fibromyalgia Doesn't Have to Be a Life Sentence.

What I am considering next

As I was writing this article, I took a break to add the 2024 Update to my online library. This is when I came across another treatment that combines the OGT field with the shoulders.

Using AI to make the comparison, I discovered that the 2023 treatment that I used to wake with no pain (in Fibromyalgia Doesn't Have to Be a Life Sentence | You Have A Life Plan) was a "door opener treatment to address ancestral attachments and childhood traumas that have become so embedded they prevent the person from responding to standard treatment, the goal is to add order to chaos for someone who is walled in by their past". This treatment addressed broad ancestral attachments carried through the maternal and paternal lines.

While the 2024 version, addresses the personal attachments, that a person carries for their entire lifetime, which show up as the person being physically bent in their upper thoracic spine. This person cannot stand upright, they have lost their freedom to be open. The 2024 version is recommended when the 2023 version brings some relief but not enough (i.e., my experience of the pain returning at 6pm).

Given that I got into all of this by treating my shoulder joint, not because my shoulder hurt, but because my foot hurt in the area that corresponds to my shoulder, it has been an interesting path to follow, where symptoms definitely got worse, in order to teach me what was really there, and how I can correct the way I am doing life, in order to arrive at a better outcome.

Going back to helping my middle child

My middle child has recurring pain around her belly button and cold hands and feet. She is very different from her older and younger siblings. She is the only one who was conceived via IVF. Because I lost every single embryo in my first round of IVF and I was told the chances of success were less than 5%, I made a decision to protect my emotions by not attaching to her until I knew she was viable. She probably felt the pain of me not really being able to be there for her, through the line that connects us, when she was in utero (her belly button).

I need to continue to provide her with support, when she lets me. As she can get herself into a very bad state when she is overwhelmed, and then it becomes hard for people to help. She sometimes goes against what is best for her, in order to try to complete her vision, of what the person she would like be, would do. My karma lessons (2 and 8) are about learning to work with people like this. It is important to clear the lessons that are not mine (3 and 7) in order to make room for what is.

My kids, my health, then my business, this is where this trilogy began...

Article one showed what happens when you treat the trauma as well as the pain.

Article two showed how the brain develops in response to unresolved childhood trauma and how we can address it.

This article focuses on following the pain to understand what we need to do next.
